Real Rooms: Avar Bracken Green in Clare's Dressing Room

We fell in love with blogger and content creator Clare's house when we went to visit a few weeks ago. From the real wood parquet floors spanning all four floors to the dark blue kitchen, open plan dining space and generously proportioned dressing room, it's a heck of a house that only needed one more thing; some Woodchip & Magnolia magic, of course.

Having inherited a beautifully spacious dressing room when she bought the house, Clare now hoped to add a bit of colour and pattern into the room. She paired our 004 First Light paint with Avar Bracken Green wallpaper and the rest, as they say, is history. Being the nosey types we are, we also wanted to know a bit more about Clare, her home and her interior style...

How would you describe your interior design style?
Our design style is quite minimalist with pops of colour, lots of prints and mainly mid century furniture. My partner Joe and I agree on most things but there are always things one of us loves and the other hates!

What attracted you to our Avar Bracken Green wallpaper for your dressing room?
I love shades of green and pink together, Avar Bracken Green is such a gorgeous wallpaper and has pops of pink that match First Light paint perfectly. I wanted a cosy but luxurious feel for our dressing room and Avar Bracken Green fitted perfectly.

How does your dressing room make you feel?
It’s a great space to get ready in, it’s a calming and cosy space. When it’s tidy that is!

How do you go about putting an interior design together for a room?
We always start with an idea, a colour, a print or a piece of furniture and the rest of the room is inspired from that. I’m very indecisive so there’s a lot of trial and error to get it to exactly what we want, but we get there in the end.

What should no home be without?
Somewhere for everyone who lives in the house, friends and family can be together. We have a kitchen diner space that is always where everyone ends up gathering, it’s so important to us to have an area where everyone is comfortable.

What's your favourite room in your house and why?
The kitchen diner is my favourite room, it has huge glass doors and ceiling so there is so much light. There’s plenty of space for the kids to run around and it means I can cook dinner without being in a separate room, it just works so well for us.

What's your favourite flower and why?
Peonies have always been my favourite. My one demand about getting married was making sure it was in peony season! They are just so beautiful and change so much from bud to bloom, I love every stage.

Do you have any upcoming projects?
The bathroom is next on my list! I’m not planning anything too drastic, just a paint colour change and some plant shelves above the bath. I’ve had the paint and the shelves for a few months but life with two small kids means it keeps getting moved down the list.

Do you have any other W&M favourites other than Avar?
I love the Land of Milk and Honey, it was a close call between that and Avar Bracken Green for our dressing room. I need to find somewhere else in the house for it to go!
