Wallpaper Do's and Don'ts: Top Tips for Decorating Your Space
There are no rules when it comes to decorating your home. We believe your walls should be a reflection of your personality and therefore anything goes when it comes to pattern and colour. However, we do have a few tips and tricks up our sleeves to help you transform your space in the best possible way...
Do: Get a Wallpaper Sample
We always recommend getting samples of your wallpaper first. A computer screen often doesn't give a true representation of the colours, quality and texture and so it's always best to see the paper in real life before fully committing. Getting a sample also means you can hold it up in different spots to see how it interacts with the natural light in the room. Depending on the rooms orientation, colours in the paper could feel warmer or cooler, and you can also see how the paper works with existing furniture and soft furnishings to ensure you're making the right choice.
Don't: Be Afraid
Being bold with your decor really pays off and adding colour and pattern brings life and soul into a home. There are lots of ways to do this; from wallpapering all four walls or putting a mural on the ceiling, to painting woodwork in a contrasting paint colour to your walls or being creative with furniture.

Do: Use Paste the Wall Paper
'Paste the Wall' paper is much quicker and easier to hang than the traditional 'Paste the Paper' method. It's also less messy, reduces wastage and limits the need for professional equipment. All of our wallpapers, borders and murals use the Paste the Wall method as we believe it's the best way to decorate!
Don't: Forget About Scale
Large scale wallpaper prints are more suited to large spaces as smaller designs would get lost in the room. Equally, a large scale wallpaper print wouldn't work in a small space as the print would be broken and wouldn't have the intended effect. All of our murals however can be customised to suit your space, so no matter the size we can make them work.

Do: Try to DIY
As all of our papers use the Paste the Wall method, they're super easy to hang so DIY-ing should be no problem. We also have lots of help and advice over at our Decorating Hub to help you achieve the perfect finish.
Don't: Order too Little
Our handy wallpaper calculator on each of our product pages will help you calculate how many rolls you need for your project. However if you're still unsure, it's always best to over order. That way, you'll prevent any hold ups with decorating and additional costs for decorators time etc. Any unused rolls can always be returned for a full refund, as long as they're unopened and your project won't be put on hold in the meantime.
Do: Ask for Help
From helping you calculate how many rolls you'll need, to customising your bespoke mural, we're always happy to help. Just get in touch with us at hello@woodchipandmagnolia.co.uk and our design team will get back to you.
