A west facing room will receive most natural sunlight during the evening when the sun is setting. Evening sunlight also tends to be quite warming, so as you use the room mostly during the evening you're able to have free reign on colour choices. Cooler shades will work equally as well as warming tones as they'll be warmed up as the sun comes around. For a cocooning and more traditional feel, stick to a darker palette with a heritage design.
