How to Measure Your Walls

Measuring your walls (or ceiling) for wallpaper or a mural is much easier than you might think. Here's our quick and easy guide on how to do it...

What you need to know
All of our murals are made bespoke to your wall measurements and then printed to order. We recommend always adding 5-10cm to both the width and height measurements to make sure we've got your walls (quite literally) covered. This will be of benefit especially if your wall(s) are uneven.

Determine your wall type and measure

First of all when it comes to measuring, determine your wall type. If you have a straight forward standard wall, lucky you! If not, we've got you covered...

MEASURING A STANDARD WALL

Measuring a standard wall
Measure the full height and width and height of the wall excluding the skirting boards and/or coving.

measuring a sloped wall

Measuring a sloped wall
If you have a sloped ceiling or wall, ignore any slopes and measure the longest and widest part of the wall. The mural will be printed as a rectangle or square so during installation, you would cut away the section where the slope is.

measuring a pitched wall

Measuring a pitched Wall
Like when measuring a sloped wall, measure the longest and widest part of the wall and cut away the sloping sections during installation.

measuring a wall with obstacles
Measuring walls with obstacles
When a door, window or additional obstacle is on the wall, please still measure the width and height of the wall you want to cover. As the mural is produced as a rectangle or square, that area would be cut away during installation.

Measuring for wallpaper
We would always recommend ordering more rolls than you need when it comes to wallpaper as it will prevent any hold ups with the decorating time should you need more. We offer free UK returns so you can easily return if they go unneeded after all!

Measuring for a mural
A few extra things to note when measuring for a mural...

To make installation of our murals as easy as possible, they're all:

1. Quick and easy to install on the wall, as they use the 'Paste The Wall' application method

2. Easy to remove and simply peel off in one strip (no scraper or steamer required)

3. Easy to install with numbered panels starting with panel 1, and hang left to right

4. Are all a Straight Pattern Repeat

We're here to help

The important bit
We encourage all of our customers to triple check their measurements as unfortunately due to the bespoke nature of our customised murals, we cannot accept returns on murals which have been ordered incorrectly.
