How to Style Cushions Like an Interior Designer

Cushions are the perfect finishing touch to an interior design, adding a sense of homeliness, texture and depth to a room. They can instantly transform a sofa and look of the room as a whole and they're also a great way to switch up your decor relatively inexpensively. There is a knack however, to styling your cushions like an interior designer, which is why we're here with the the tips and tricks to help you achieve the high end look.

Choose a palette
First things first, choose your colour palette. Whether you're going off your rooms existing decor or are starting from scratch, determine a core palette of 3 colours and stick to those when it comes to cushions too. Different shades of the same colour work to create depth and texture and bright pops of one of your core colours is a great way to add further interest too.

Clashing pattern and colour
Clashing colours and patterns with cushions is a really fun way to style cushions whilst also injecting personality into a space. When clashing patterns, mix smaller scale designs with larger scale prints, for example a mini stripe and a bold floral, or stick to one design but opt for alternating colours like @noushka_design has done in her living room.

Layer up
Choose varying sizes in cushions to layer up with. For example larger square cushions and smaller bolster cushions look great together.
