'Tis the Season for Hosting
With Christmas around the corner (we’re not too early, are we?), it’s got us thinking about how to get our homes prepped and ready for all of the visitors who will inevitably descend upon us over the festive period.
Still got that guest room to sort? Dining room still be used as the dumping ground? Well now’s your chance to freshen up your home decor, just in time for the festive season and here are a few ideas of how you can do it…
Guest room ready
If your guest room has been at the bottom of your priority list up to now, it’s time to push it up and work out how to best utilise the space not only at Christmas, but throughout the year too. It could double up as a dressing room or office so you can make the best use of the space all year round. And if you’re stuck for decor ideas, here are a few of our favourite customers bedrooms decorated with Woodchip & Magnolia.

Dining Room
Now’s the time to rid the dining room of junk and create a space for entertaining. Create a focal point in the room, such as a feature wall or ceiling, and add ambience with candles, floor and table lamps. Make sure to get some extra storage to store all the dinnerware you’ll need for your guests and bring the wow factor with a dramatic paint and paper scheme.

There’s not much better than retiring to the sofa after your Christmas dinner; full up, merry from the bucks fizz and ready to snooze to the sounds of a Christmas special. Create a cocooning feel with a warm and inviting colour palette, and add to the cosy feel by layering soft furnishings such as blinds, curtains, cushions, rugs and throws.

The Heart of the Home
It’s where you’ll spend a lot of your Christmas Day if you’re the cook of the house, so getting the kitchen decor right will be key to creating a jolly Christmas feel. Use wallpaper to add depth, texture and warmth to an oftentimes clinical looking space. Use a complementing paint colour on the cabinetry and woodwork and you’ve got yourself a dream scheme fit for Santa himself. Add touches of festive decor with hanging garlands, a seasonal bouquet and ambient lighting.
Hallway
Give your guests a warm welcome with a fresh update. Make a small, narrow hallway feel more open with light colours and mirrors to reflect the light. Bring the wow factor by wallpapering the ceiling with a mural or try half height panelling with wallpaper above. First impressions count!

Cloakroom
Add a sprinkle of fun with a bold and colourful cloakroom. It will get a lot of use over the festive period no doubt, so create an inviting feel by going bold with the decor.
